“Reunion with an old friend after a year” – I want to meet Janice

The alluring songs of pop singer Janice have always been the source of energy to support our Wish Child Larry to overcome the difficulties which he faces in the course of coping with his muscle dystrophy syndrome. And that simply becomes his dream to meet his idol Janice one day. He was overwhelmed to enjoy a dinner with Janice face to face in June 2010 just after the home visit paid by our volunteers a month before! 

Larry described his Wish Day as “a gathering with an old friend”. Although it was his first time to meet Janice, he was well acquainted with her background and latest news! He was also delighted to have such opportunity to keep in touch with this "old friend"!  Seeing the lovely smile of Larry, we were all sure that he enjoyed every moment being with Janice together. But in which way can we keep encouraging Larry to move forward? The simplest way is to give him a chance to see Janice by person again! 

On the eve of the Mother's day in 2011, a fund-raising activity was jointly held by Make-A-Wish^® Hong Kong and our wish partner. We were glad to have Janice as our guest and we certainly invited Larry to come so that he could meet his idol again. It had been a year already since they last dined together, but hardly there was any distance between them starting from the first second of this reunion. Besides hugging and greeting each other, they even had another "ceremony of souvenirs exchange" just as what they did a year ago. Janice autographed the souvenir for Larry and everyone could see the smiles of both of them, which were even more adorable than before, when taking the group photo. 

During the event, Janice, together with Larry, presented a beautiful flower bundle to his mother and wished her a happy and joyful Mother’s Day in advance. Even though the time that they got on was not long, Larry was more than satisfied with uplifted lips all along to relish every moment spending with Janice. It was clearly shown by his intimate attention to every move of Janice while she was interviewed by the media.  

We here would like to thank Janice for energising Larry with new force! We wish that the happiness that Larry received on his Wish Day would last long…
