Mr. Jet Li

I want to meet my No.1 movie star – Mr. Jet Li

Sean is a Wish Child from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the USA. He came to Beijing in late May with his Grandmother and Uncle. He enjoyed the brilliant scenery of the Great Wall, and visited the glorious Forbidden City. Although he liked visiting these tourist points, travelling around this historic city was not the purpose of this trip. He decided to make this trip because he wished to meet his idol, Mr. Jet Li (Jet).

Sean likes Chinese culture, especially Chinese kung-fu. He learned kung-fu in his home town and spends his leisure time watching action movies. Among all kung-fu movies, Jet’s productions are always his first choice. He likes Jet’s actions which demonstrate “the grade of master”. When he knew he may apply for a wish from Make-A-Wish®, “The wish to meet Jet Li” came to his mind immediately and this was the only wish he wanted to come true.

A fantastic dinner with Sean’s family and Jet was the first order of business. The family arrived at the venue before Jet; Sean said, “I am very excited but nervous; I don’t know how to express my feelings now!” Although it was only a couple of minutes of waiting time, it felt like an hour to this Wish Child. When Jet arrived, he gave a big hug to Sean – this moment was too amazing!! Sean then told Jet how he recovered from bone cancer, while Jet showed him the scars on his legs and arms from shooting movies and practicing kung-fu. Jet encouraged Sean so that he could recover from times of injury; Sean also could live better after the big battle with cancer. Then, Jet demonstrated some Tai-Chi; he explained the focus of Tai-Chi is “balance” which is an important value of health for the Chinese. Sean was surprised - he had a chance to see Jet practicing kung-fu in front of him!

This was the first formal meal in the Chinese style for the family on this trip. Jet introduced the dishes to the family one by one; he also led Sean to the side table to introduce him the signature dish in Beijing, which is Beijing Duck! Jet talked about his daily life, movies and coming projects during the dinner; he also invited the family to attend a press conference the next day where they would have a chance to see the trailer of his latest movie which is in 3D. This meant Sean could meet Jet again!

When the dinner was approaching the end, Sean was asked by the group, “How about the dinner? Which item did you think was the best?” It was amazing to hear his reply – “The best part was Jet!!” We now know that Jet is Sean’s number one idol and he enjoyed every moment together with Jet. The dinner ended with a group photo; everyone showed a big smile on their faces. Jet wished the family a happy, relaxed and safe trip and looked forward to meeting them again the next day. It was too memorable and amazing for Sean – he brought all the CDs of Jet’s movies with Jet’s autograph with him back home, together with a lot of sweet and ever-lasting memories!

We also have to thank the brilliant services provided by the staff, the delicious food prepared by the Executive Chinese Chef, and the souvenirs arranged by the dining place.
